With poses promoting blood flow and mental stillness, fertility yoga came on the scene shortly after assisted reproduction as a way for the patient to cooperate with the doctors. Midwest Fertility Center acknowledges this practice as a legitimate method of bringing peace to one’s mind while manipulating the body to increase an atmosphere of fertility and pregnancy.
“It is so important that the infertile patient does these poses daily,” says a Midwest Fertility Center specialist. The poses often demonstrated by instructors in fertility yoga classes greatly increase an environment in the body that leads to pregnancy.
The cobra pose sends blood flow to the reproductive organs, allowing the ovaries to perform better. The lotus pose is one that is combined with visualization, aimed at bringing the participant’s mind into a place of stillness and peace. “Stress and depression can harm the chances of one conceiving,” states Dr. Madanes “This is why fertility yoga is so important,” he continues.
A pose called legs up the wall is promoted by those at Midwest Fertility Center. They encourage participants to do the pose immediately after sexual intercourse, causing the sperm to more quickly and effectively reach the productive organs.
The supported bridge pose is noted as a great way of increasing blood flow to the uterus.
These are just a few of the poses one would be instructed to do in a fertility yoga class. Midwest Fertility Center is an advocate for any out-of-office practice that is a healthy way of promoting fertility, especially for their patients who have undergone in any type of vitro fertilization procedure.
