The Central Nova Scotia Correctional Facility is a Canadian Remand Centre or prison situated in Nova Scotia’s Halifax regional municipality. This jail was built in 2001 and is known as the largest provincial jail in Nova Scotia. This jail is a medium security provincial prison housing a maximum of 300 plus male and 40 plus female offenders.

The Capital District’s Health Authority’s East Coast Forensic Hospital is co-located with the Central Nova Scotia Correctional Facility, but each of the facility is independently operated and the forensic clients and offenders of these facilities are separate at all times. Although the operations of both the facilities are separate, the Capital District Health Authority supports the Correctional Facility with all the primary health services through its clinics as required while taking the correctional facility’s help in the form of security.

Renovation Plans

As per the Capital Plan’s 2015-16 decision and in the years to come, the Central Nova Scotia Correctional Facility would undergo various renovations of its offender units. Along with these renovations, security and surveillance system enhancements would also be carried out.

Scheduling A Visit At The Central Nova Scotia Correctional Facility (CNSCF)

Incarcerated person will book the visit for you and they will be provided a visitation time. One who books a visit should plan and arrive early. As per the facility schedule, weekly visits are being permitted. The number of visitors a day would be decided on the sole discretion of the delegate or the superintendent of the jail on the basis of space and the security status.

Visitation Information:

The length of the visit for the person visiting the inmate would be a maximum of 60 minutes or One hour. One can visit their loved ones in the jail only once a week and per visit only a maximum of 4 persons can visit the inmate as per the CNSCF prison rules.
