Yeboah Evans and His Three Remarkable Pledges for BCA Presidential Election 2018

This piece focuses on a brief biography of the candidate in BCA Presidential Elections, Yeboah Evans and his three-point agenda to advance badminton in Africa.

 
There are only a few people in the world who give preference to their passion for monetary outcomes. Yeboah Evans is one such person who never gave up his childhood dream of uplifting the standards of badminton in not only Ghana but also Africa.

Born in Ghana, Evans takes his lineage from his great-grandmother who fought against the British for the liberation of Golf Coast Ghana. Graduated from the University of Cape Coast, Evans has degrees in Mathematics & Science, Accounting & Finance, and Business Administration- Strategy. At present, he is a Doctoral candidate for Doctor of Business Administration.

When it comes to his professional life, he has been Global Chartered Management Accounting in the UK, Balkan Region, and the US since 2000. He has worked with many world-class companies such as Goldman Sachs and Discovery Tel Ghana.

He has participated in various sports reform initiatives on athlete’s promotion and development. Over the last decade, he has served many Boards of not-for-profit and inter-cultural organizations, including American Field Service, Ghana.

Besides his professional life, badminton has always being a part of Evans’s personal and professional life. It’s his passion for badminton that has decided to run for the Badminton Confederation of Africa (BCA) Presidential Elections 2018. Currently holding the prestigious position of President of Ghana Badminton, Evans has played a wonderful role in bringing a sporting media sponsorship of around USD500,000 to badminton up to the next Olympic Cycle.

Evans is also the 3rd Vice President of National Olympic Committee. Launching his election campaign for BCA election going to be held in May 2018, Evans put forth his three-point agenda which he believes will open the doors for the success of badminton in Africa continent. His pledges include:

Rebuilding Trust and Leading Reforms

This pledge involves taking sufficient initiatives to rebuild trust among badminton fraternity in African and leading reforms by constructing a modern, trustworthy and transparent governing body in Africa continent.

Decentralized Development and Participation

This remarkable pledge incorporates:
• Constructing a decentralized development process of the five regions
• Empowering the Member Associations in accessing cost-effective shuttles and rackets
• Forming academic and sports interest group partnerships
• A greater BCA voice for players and athletes
• Strengthening and consolidating BCA’s administrative and finan[]cial structures

Maximizing Commercial Growth and Enhanced Events

Under this pledge, Evans has provided a format of maximizing the commercial growth by organizing sports events at regular intervals. Some ideas are:
• Introducing the first African Veteran’s family premiere leagues by December 2019
• Launching the African National Badminton Premiere League by October 2019
• Have top-class events with its commercial aggregate value with revenue outcomes distributed to all MA’s programs
• Creating dedicated roles of badminton players in development and grassroots activities
• BCA efficient website developed by August 2018

In plain words, we can say that these three pledges encompass the whole idea of improving and advancing the badminton sports in Africa. This is the outline on which Evans has been emphasizing for many years and is now using them as a tool to win the support of people.
