After a successful medical residency training, Eric Yahav will become the Chief Resident at the Cooper University Hospital.

Eric Yahav is the new Chief Resident at Cooper University Hospital. Unlike in other specialties where every fifth year residents are considered chief residents, at the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department there is a careful selection process with only the best senior residents having a chance to be selected to the program. After Eric Yahav completed the first two years of his medical residency there, the program director selected him to help the hospital by performing additional teaching and other administrative duties that play a crucial part in the institution’s medical residency training. The selection factors have included a combination of high scores and notable performances during his training.

As the Chief Resident of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department, his duties and responsibilities will include: communication with the Program Director and division leaders whenever it is necessary, especially when there are crucial issues, organizing meetings and talking to the other residents, asking them about certain issues if the Program Directors request it, going to meetings where the leaders of the hospital are present, representing all the other residents during the Residency Program Committee meetings, and doing everything to develop and maintain a strong morale between the residents.

There are other aspects of the role too, including organizational and recruitment duties. As the Chief Resident at Cooper University Hospital, Eric Yahav will arrange the schedules of other OBGYN residents, making changes whenever it is necessary. Most of his duties will revolve around assisting the Program Director, but the coordination of teaching and educational activities will also fall under his jurisdiction. Eric Yahav will serve at least a year as the Chief Resident, helping other obstetrics and gynecology residents to prepare for medicine, as well as have an independent practice. Under adequate supervision, the Chief Resident has to promote qualities like proficiency and competency, skills that allow these medical professionals to complete their residency in the most efficient and rewarding way possible.

Eric Yahav hopes that his tenure as the Chief Resident will be a fulfilling one, and that he’ll be able to help his fellow residents to the best of his abilities.
