Erica Desai has been passionate about helping people from a young age, and channels that passion into her work in the health care field. She grew up and attended school in North Carolina, and was a star student with a huge variety of interests. After graduating from college, she decided to move to Richmond, Virginia. She started doing volunteer work at the hospital, and although she initially started working in a variety of different departments based on the hospital’s needs, she eventually put in so much time and effort that they allowed her to choose where to work based on her interests. She chose the Cardio-Pulmonary lab, and then later moved to the Cardiology department. Through her volunteer work, she studied the equipment in-depth, and used this expertise to land a job working at the Heart center.

Outside of work, Desai’s biggest passion is volunteering. Erica Desai is of Hindu heritage, and loves to give her time to Hindu community organizations. She regularly works with BAPS in Richmond, which promotes Hindu spirituality as well as community growth and outreach. She has also worked with Hindu youth through the Vraj Camp in Pennsylvania, where she was a counselor, as well as the Vallabh Youth group. Desai loves to volunteer because it gives her the opportunity to work with a wide variety of people and make a difference in their lives.

Desai also has many hobbies outside of work and volunteering. She is very focused on maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and loves to cook and bake. She also likes to stay active by running, swimming and playing volleyball. She frequently goes out with her friends to enjoy all that Richmond has to offer, and particularly enjoys shopping and trying new restaurants. Erica Desai is very social, and loves to meet new people and spend time with those that she cares about.
