Outdoor time and playful learning adventures that keep preschoolers through grade schoolers engaged are most important to parents. Emilie Christian Day School has a recipe for a successful summer.

Emily Christian Days School is giving parents a break. With the start of the summer, working moms and dads are now at a loss as to where to send their kids for childcare. More than that, as Susan M. says (One of our moms), the lack of learning during the summer is something that continually bothers her.

"I work from home which means I can be with my child anytime she needs me. The thing is, I can’t really focus on educating them during the summer months. I can’t print out activity sheets in the hopes that they will give them back to me completed during study time. Preschoolers don’t work that way. They need much more supervision, which is something I can’t give when I’m on a conference call, for example. Sometimes, the kids are left with a babysitter, but that gets too expensive and they are not educators. I’m paying someone to watch over my kids, but my sitter is not equipped to keep their minds busy."

Childcare and education during the summer months are always something to think about for households when both parents working. Fortunately for parents in Levittown, PA, Emilie Christian Day School is offering Summer Programs for Kids who are aged 13 months and up (up to 4th grade).

Fun, play and learning

What’s interesting is that the children won’t feel like they are in school. Most of the activities are outdoors, with the kids enjoying the sunshine, exploring nature, and they focus on sciences and applying math during play time. There are streamlined schedules and lesson plans for each age group, making sure that the kids are grouped with other students who are of similar ages.

"It’s like most other Day Camps in Bucks County but with an added extra spiritual edge. My kids get a more well-rounded education during summer camp at ECDS. That for me is impressive," John M, a 35 year old dad said. He was referring to the summer camp’s Christian living lessons. He could have easily enrolled his twins at another school but with Emilie Christian Day School, he can make sure the values learned at home are put into practice while at camp too.

Some water fun

At least once a week, Emilie Christian Day School also has swimming and non-swimming water activities for the kids. John M was a bit uncomfortable at first having his twin girls join swimming activities because they seemed too young. The school invited him to observe and was happy with the school’s supervision.

"The kids who could not swim yet were just in the shallow part of the water. Even those who could swim well were guided by adults. The water itself was not really that deep. The teachers knew CPR and I was really impressed by their facilities. I ended up just letting my girls join in. The activity was very enjoyable and they do love water."

Fun in learning

The reason why Emilie Christian Day School’s activities are all play-based is because it’s faster for children at that age to absorb information when it is combined with enjoyable activities. Even their ordinary preschool classes are largely play-based. The non-swimming water activities are especially effective because the kids are naturally drawn to water. They get to learn counting, painting, and many more creative learning activities.

Emilie Christian Day School is still accepting enrollees for the summer, but you need to hurry because their slots are limited. For rates and more specific concerns about their summer programs, call 215-945-3131.
