Six Humboldt County girls will compete in the USA Gymnastics meets coming up soon.

ARCATA, Calif. -- The young athletes in the HealthSPORT Fortuna Gymnastics program have been working all summer to prepare for the 2013 USA Gymnastics compulsory competitive season.

They will be attending three to four regional meets this season with hopes of scoring a 34.5 all around and qualifying for the state meet in November. This season, all of the gymnasts will be competing using the brand new routines USAG released this summer for the upcoming 2013-2020 seasons. HealthSPORT’s coaches Valerie Caudle and Andrea Knight both attended a training seminar in Reno in June where these routines were released to the nation in order to prepare these young gymnasts to compete.

This year’s team consists of:
Level 5 competitors: Katie Hurst, 12; Mackenzie Hall, 11
Level 4 competitor: Saige Grundman, 10
Level 3 competitors: Cadence Lommori, 10; Anna Foy, 10; Abbi Diamond, 11

All of these girls have been in the gym at least nine hours per week preparing for the upcoming season.
