Somali Community Link helps Somali Refugees find the right jobs by ending cultural and language barriers with their Youth Employment Program in Ohio.

Columbus, OH – 2nd March, 2022: Currently, there are over 500,000 Somali refugees in the US, amongst which many are unemployed adults who are on the outlook for jobs. The job market in the US for Somali refugees is very challenging due to the many languages and cultural differences in the host country. To minimize these differences and barriers, The Somali Community Link offers Youth Employment Program in Ohio.

The Somali Community Link is a non-profit organization based in Ohio that aims to help everyone in need including Somali refugees build a better life in the US after leaving their home country. That’s because many Somalis in Columbus face immense cultural and language barriers that create unnecessary hurdles in obtaining both education and employment.

The Head of Youth Employment Program at SCL stated:
“Our Youth Employment Program powerfully targets the youth because they are the future of all the Somali immigrants in the US. Our program teaches them the tools needed to integrate into American society to flourish.

While doing so, we also emphasize the importance of them retaining their identity to remember who they are and where they are from. When we start guiding these children from an early age, as it helps them prepare in time for the US job market so that there’s minimum time wasted in the transition.”

The Somali Community Link also provides employment assistance, housing assistance, legal advocacy, and case management services to ensure every Somali refugee entering the US settles easily.

The best way to end this issue is by educating the younger youth and empowering them to find jobs and settle on their own. This allows SCL to use the donations and contributions by the public on those who are less fortunate and need more help.
