ElcomSoft Co. Ltd. releases a major update to Elcomsoft Phone Breaker (formerly Elcomsoft Phone Password Breaker), a mobile forensic tool for acquiring data from Apple and BlackBerry devices, Apple iCloud and Windows Live! accounts. The new release adds acquisition support for iOS 8.1, enables full acquisition of cloud data, and enables full support for two-factor authentication schemes. In addition, the new release enables the extraction of iCloud authentication tokens from stand-alone hard drives and disk images in addition to live system analysis.

The new release fully supports Apple's two-factor authentication schemes including verification code on the trusted device and recovery key. With Apple expanding its two-step authentication to cover cloud backups, supporting this authentication scheme becomes a must for successful cloud acquisition. Two-factor authentication can be bypassed by using binary authentication tokens.

Elcomsoft Phone Breaker can retrieve information from Apple iCloud even if Apple ID and password are not known by using a binary authentication token. The new release enables the extraction of binary authentication tokens from offline sources such as stand-alone hard drives and forensic disk images.

Finally, the latest release enables acquisition support for iOS 8.1. The tool enables full access to all types of information stored in the user's iCloud account.

The feature is available in the Forensic edition of Elcomsoft Phone Breaker.
