CII Conference on HR ends successfully

MUMBAI: August 11, Monday: The Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) along with its principal partner, Naukri.com organized a conference on human resources titled “Best HR Management Practices” in Mumbai on 7th and 8th August 2011. The theme of the conference focused on the changing dynamics of the recruitment and how human resources domain can implement the best HR management practices to nail the very best of talent pool. The 3-day event witnessed a gathering of nearly 700 delegates from across industries including HR professionals, corporate leaders, recruiters, academics and thought leaders from the HR industry.

Welcome address was presided over by Human Resources Director of Cognizant Technologies Madhav Jain. He highlighted the changing scenarios of recruitment process. He maintained that the recruitment industry has undergone a rapid change with technology and gone are the days when a recruiter would sit and sift a stack of resumes and individually approach jobseekers. Applicant tracking systems have made their way and it is technology that has started dominating the recruitment sphere at a large scale.

The introduction was followed by the first panel discussion which focused on the growing gap between professional degrees vis-à-vis skills required for getting a job. Experts opined that higher education system needs to align itself with the industry so that graduates are job-ready. They laid emphasis on aligning academics and industry and increasing industry interaction of students.

The focal theme of the next session was Strategic HR Management where discussions were how SaaS could be used to revamp. They opined how business has changed over the years and so even HR ought to pace up to embrace & absorb technology faster.. Genomics, automation, machine learning, robotics will mark in presence in HR in the near future, redefining HR in the long run. This is where SaaS would come into effect and decisions on talent acquisition will be based on SaaS, analytics.

The next session of the day focused on “On-boarding in the Digital Age” which discussed on the significance of on-boarding practices and how organizations need to reshape them in the age of digital disruption, the various challenges facing it and the ways and means to be adopted to effectively deal with those challenges. The HR team of an organization has to be careful pertaining to future recruitment processes and must be digitally empowered to tackle ‘digital disruption’ in HR. It is not only about picking up desirable profiles from the ATSs or conducting interviews and selecting the right candidate but it also about conducting proper on-boarding processes that would help the new hires to be able to gel with the organization faster. Making them feel comfortable, enmeshing them into the new environment is a complicated process and therefore, on-boarding also need to change drastically and should be made more interactive in manner. Rather than the event being a dramatic monologue, the organization should ideally engage in proper dialogue with the new hires. Existing employees should also be welcoming towards them.

Finally, the event concluded with a closing keynote address by Shyam Kumar of TechSoft where he emphasized on importance of digitization and ensuring happiness for everyone in the corporate world with the help of digitization. Visit http://www.ecubetraining.com
