Intus Windows, a worldwide leader in energy efficient windows, says that LEED points can be earned through utilization of Intus Windows & Guardian/SunGuard Glass

August 18, 2014 - New York, NY – According to Aurimas Sabulis, managing director of Intus Windows (http://www.intuswindows.com/), a worldwide leader in the manufacture of energy efficient triple pane windows that utilize Guardian/SunGuard glass, the incorporation of Intus Windows into projects is an excellent way for architects to earn LEED credit points in five of the seven categories.

“The United States Green Building Council developed LEED as a way to create a better indoor environment, while also protecting the planet and its resources,” says Sabulis. “LEED, which stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is a system that awards points for reducing energy use, improving indoor air quality, and promoting a sustainable building approach.”

Sabulis says that a building must score at least 40 points from a total of 110 points, to qualify a building as a LEED Certified building. Utilizing Intus Windows with Guardian SunGuard glass, he says, can earn a project up to 34 LEED points. While LEED is a voluntary standard, more businesses and homeowners are making it a top priority, he concludes.

Here are some of the contributing factors to LEED certification, when architects use Intus Windows with Guardian SunGuard glass:

Energy and Atmosphere

“There are three ways comply with LEED standards for increasing energy performance above the prerequisite standard and reducing the environmental impact of excessive energy use,” Sabulis says. “An architect can choose from sixteen types of Guardian SunGuard Advanced Architectural Glass that will help to achieve this standard.”

Materials and Resources

The goal of LEED construction, among other things, is to increase demand for building products using recycled materials, according to Sabulis, who notes that SunGuard Advanced Architectural Glass contains recycled glass.

Indoor Environmental Quality
“LEED seeks to provide a building’s occupants with a connection between indoor and outdoor spaces, by allowing daylight and providing views from regularly occupied spaces in the building,” says Sabulis. “In order to achieve daylight penetration to 75% of regularly occupied spaces, there are three ways to comply and SunGuard Advanced Architectural Glass provides a wide range of thermal and light control, giving you maximum design flexibility while meeting LEED standards.”

There are many buildings that have attained LEED Certification while utilizing Guardian Glass., Sabulis explains. Intus proudly uses Guardian Glass in its triple pane windows and combining the high-tech Guardian glazing, along with Intus’ high-performing triple pane windows, results in a window that is both energy-efficient and can qualify for up to 34 LEED points.
