[MUNSTER, 10/26/2018] – The Hospice of the Calumet Area provides caregiving support services for family members caring for a loved one. It enhances every caregiver’s efforts with its team of compassionate individuals. This way, caregivers can encourage their loved ones to live a more meaningful life during their last stages.

Four Levels of Hospice Care

The Hospice of the Calumet Area team recognizes the importance of caring for a loved one. Its comprehensive caregiving support program includes four levels of care:

1. Routine home care – Hospice care that includes nursing and home health aide services
2. Continuous home care – For patients who need continuous nursing care during a time of crisis
3. General inpatient care – Short-term assistance for those who need to manage pain and symptoms outside a hospital
4. Respite care – Short-term facility care for family members who need a breather from caregiving

A Special Hospice Care Program for Terminal Loved Ones

Families who sign up to the program will receive a customized caregiving plan. The Hospice of the Calumet Area team focuses on improving pain and symptoms; a doctor will provide medical care while a nurse assists with tasks such as cleaning, cooking, bathing, and dressing up.

Other services in the program include:

• Counseling for loved ones
• Physical and speech therapy
• Pain management medication
• Chaplain and spiritual services
• Medical equipment and supplies

Enriching the Last Stage of Life

The Hospice of the Calumet Area is dedicated to providing the best care possible and ensures that no one in the family has to face caregiving alone.

As family members enter the profound and meaningful journey of caring for their loved one, the team will guide them in helping their loved one live life more fully during their last stages.
