Located on a property of Santiago Terry Street, 9, the hotel has a spectacular main patio with an open gallery.  The study carried out by the Argentine journalist Veronica Lamberti revealed many interesting facts about the hotel  starting off with the history of this beautiful estate of bourgeois origins, which she believed dates back to the late 16th century.

According to the research, the Catalan family Fonte, Juan Bautista Zuloaga - discoverer and priest of the Cathedral of Cádiz, his brother Gabriel, Count of Torrealta, María Angustias de Zuloaga, the Counts of Villamar, Pedro Irigoyen and José Antonio Martínez Yepes, inhibited the hotel at some point of his long life, before becoming Casa de Caridad.

Not many know how that the proud owner of the Alquimia Hostel Jose Pineiro arrived in Cádiz in 1956 as a professional diver after a sunken ship appeared in the Bajo de la Cabezuela. His adventurous spirit and courage pushed him to make good that of Zorrilla in the mouth of Don Juan: 'good launch, live the Heavens! And suddenly, his purpose became the Hostel Alquimia. He wanted to set the Alvernia building as a hostel as there was no hostel in Cádiz at that time.
