Get your home ready for Indian Monsoons
Monsoons in India are right around the corner and it’s time to retract the summer décor in your patios and lawns and prepare your home for harsh rains. Start with making a checklist of everything that needs to be done and then cracking on it one by one. Hurry! Cause you haven’t got much time.

Roof and Leaks
Start with the basics. Check your roof for leaks or any opening. Make sure to plaster it tight so that you don’t have leaks during the monsoon season. You could call a professional to get it checked and proofed before the harsh rains set in.

Get rid of Fancy Carpets
If you carpets adorning your beautiful flooring then it’s time to roll them in plastic sheets and shift them somewhere dry. The moisture in the air and water can ruin them. It’s best to keep them in storage for now and use bamboo mats instead.

Water Collectors
Check your home to see if stagnant water can be collected anywhere. If so, you need to fix it immediately as it can become a breeding ground for mosquitoes and other insects.

Check your windows
Make sure the windows latch properly and can be tightly shut. The wind can be brutal at times and may spoil your home. Do remember to fix any broken window pane.

Protect furniture and flooring
Sadly, wood and moisture aren’t the best of friends. Your wood flooring and furniture may take the major brunt this monsoon of you do not take proper care. You could use a super absorbent during this season. Wet shoes should also be strictly prohibited at home. You can use wax sealants every two to three years to help make your flooring leak proof and absorb less moisture.

Shift potted plants
Indoor potted plants tend to increase moisture content at home. If you don’t want your home feeling like a swamp, we suggest you shift them outdoors during the monsoons. However, do take note that too much rainfall could destroy the plant. We suggest constructing shade to protect them.

For new homeowners this can seem like a daunting task, however, there is no cause to worry. These few tricks and tips should protect your home from the rain.
