Dr. Thomas Taylor worked in the field of academic surgery for several decades, before finally retiring a few years ago. He is extremely qualified, having received extensive training in his home country of England. He holds a pre-med undergraduate degree from the University of Edinburgh, a medical degree from the University of Manchester, and was a resident and fellow at several prestigious medical institutions in England. He began his career working as a senior lecturer at the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.

After putting in huge amounts of time and dedication to complete his studies and become a surgeon, Taylor excelled in his academic position, and after four years moved to Manchester to work as a consultant of gastroenterology at the Manchester Royal Infirmary. He was then promoted to Chief of Gastrointestinal Surgery, and was also a senior lecturer of surgery at the University of Manchester. He caught the eye of Dr. Michael DeBakey, who invited him to come to the United States to be a professor at Baylor College of Medicine in Texas.

Dr Thomas Taylor Houston thrived in this new environment, where he worked for eight years before moving to the University of Texas, where he was a Clinical Professor of Surgery, and Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Houston, where he was Chief of Academic Surgery, Chief of Postgraduate Medical Education, and Surgical Program Director. Throughout his career, he trained hundreds of new surgeons and research assistants, as well as conducting extensive amounts of research, specifically on abdominal surgery. He holds ten United States patents, wrote eight books, and published well over two hundred research papers.

Taylor has many hobbies that he pursues in his free time. He has long been passionate about music, and enjoys singing in many choirs throughout Houston, as well as playing the guitar. He also makes watercolor paintings in his free time, as well as watching sports.
