Dr. Greg Roberts Clinic, Utah’s practice of choice for comprehensive oral and maxillofacial procedures, offers a range of anesthesia options that are reliable as they are effective.

[Ogden, 09/23/2015] – Oral and maxillofacial surgery are sensitive procedures that should not only be undertaken by experts and specialists, but also assisted with a range of anesthesia to help manage the pain and ensure the procedure is executed smoothly.

Dr. Greg Roberts Clinic takes pride in their range of anesthesia options that help with varioustreatments and surgical procedures offered. Patients can choose from these four options depending on the surgery they’re about to have and their preferences.

Which Anesthesia Do You Prefer?

It used to be that Intravenous Anesthesia required patients to fast from solid food at least six hours prior to surgery, and liquids for at least two hours prior. The patient should also wear a short sleeve shirt and ride to and from the office.

Local Anesthesia, on the other hand, does not require any fasting and is a simple numbing injection given in needed areas.

Nitrous Oxide is sometimes given with Local Anesthesia, which when administered, puts the patient in a relaxed awake state. As with Local Anesthesia, it’s only injected in few select and targeted areas depending on the surgery.

General Anesthesia/IV Sedation, meanwhile, requires the patient to not drive, operate a vehicle or anything mechanical for a full 24 hours following the surgery. This intravenous medication puts the patient in a semi-conscious or unconscious condition.

It’s normal for a patient to feel anxious when it comes to anesthesia, as it can produce a strange mix of reactions. Fortunately, the leader of the team, Dr. Greg. A. Roberts, is a large specialist in oral surgery and has obtained a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond

He is a member of the American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons and the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons.
