Gaya, Bihar is gearing up to host the prestigious Yonex-Sunrise All India Sub Junior Under-13 Ranking Badminton Championship from June 27 to July 2, 2023. This championship, organized by the Bihar Badminton Association in collaboration with the Gaya District Badminton Association, promises to showcase the talent of young badminton players from across the country.
With a rich history of hosting 20 All India Ranking Tournaments and 7 National Championships, Bihar continues to strengthen its position in the badminton circuit. The championship aims to develop the Gaya region as a prominent destination for badminton on a national level, following the success of Patna and Bhagalpur.
The matches will take place at the renowned Lord Buddha Badminton Academy, situated within the premises of Delhi Public School, Gaya, featuring eight courts, along with three courts at the Gandhi Maidan Indoor Badminton Hall. More than 500 shuttlers from all corners of the country have confirmed their participation, making this championship a highly anticipated event.
Under the supervision of T Vinesh, a referee nominated by the Badminton Association of India from Tamil Nadu, the championship will witness intense competition and talent on display. The qualifying rounds are scheduled for June 27 and June 28, while the main matches will be held from June 29 to July 2.
In this prestigious championship, a total prize money of Rs 3 lakh is up for grabs. The winners of the boys' and girls' singles competitions will be awarded Rs 36,000, with Rs 18,000 for the runners-up and Rs 14,000 for the semi-finalists. The doubles event winners will receive a cash prize of Rs 38,000, while the runners-up and semi-finalists will be awarded Rs 18,000 and Rs 14,000, respectively.
