London, United Kingdom (14th September, 2012) – Barber Design, a leading contemporary retail interior design agency, recently developed a new charity retail store design concept for renowned children’s charity Barnardo’s.

As an experienced retail interior and branding design company, Barber Design were chosen to design and create Barnardo’s new flagship fashion superstore in Manchester’s Denton Crown North Retail Park. It is hoped that this brand renovation will elevate Barnardo’s position in the marketplace as a high-fashion retail brand, with a view to helping the charity compete credibly with other fashion retailers on the high street.

Barber’s role was to take this concept and develop it further, producing a set of retail graphics based on Barnardo’s own branding colours of black and green, and combining the newly-designed typeface with their existing trademark font. Barber also designed co-ordinating price tags and labels, carrier bags, large format window graphics and advertising flyers announcing the imminent arrival of the store.

Within weeks, Barber helped to turn the 6,000 square foot store into a high fashion retail unit. The store was opened on 9th August by Girls Aloud singer and fashionista Nicola Roberts.

Laura Grant, Retail and Trading Marketing and Media Manager at Barnardo’s, commented: “Barber have created a design for us that has completely surpassed our expectations. They have been a joy to work with and were always on-hand to support us throughout each stage of the project, from the environmental and graphic design through to advertising and packaging. Barber’s expertise and vision were imperative in bringing our ideas and aspirations to reality, whilst still retaining the ethos and essence of the charity.”

Doug Barber, Manager Director of Barber Design, commented: “Barnardo’s were keen to bypass the traditional image of drab charity shop interiors, and had an entirely new retail design in mind for the Denton project.

“We are delighted to see that our team’s efforts have been so successful in taking Barnardo’s initial concept, enhancing it, and creating a desirable end-result. We look forward to undergoing similar brand renovation projects in the future.”
