Sure you know American comics, specially Disney comics and super heroes, also you know Manga (Japanese comics), and the Bande dessinee (Franco-Belgian comics), but you hear nothing about the comics in the Arab world, why? We believe that talent is not confined to a particular countries, sure Arabs have their talent, but where are them?..
Babackey (Sculptor from ancient Egypt) is a new comic series coming from Egypt, that not happen every day, so we take this opportunity to answer the question, part of the answer we find in the author words: 'Working in comics in Arab world is a hard choice, because you need another work or job beside comics to earn money, so the time for comics is decreasing, and you can not realize all your imagination, and it be more difficult if you have many ideas, so I am here trying to get out this narrow place to the worldwide across self publishing window, I am now fifty years old, and I hope in the rest of my life I can realize all my imagination and ideas in comics', and this is a fact, Arts need free time or be a part of the industry, and both of them not exist in the Arab countries, but now thanks to the self publishing platforms and the social media we can see a new talents from different countries around the world.
What about Babackey series? For the art we find a half talent, but the script is new, it's the first time we read about Egyptian sculptor as a hero for comic series, the books contain short stories humor and some facts about ancient Egypt with funny illustrations, the first book (The sculptor's wife-publication date 25 August) contain babackey and his wife daily life, and facts about women in ancient Egypt, the second book (The sculptor and the priest-publication date 23 September) contain babackey and the high priest adventures, and facts about priests in ancient Egypt, the third book (The sculptor and the Pharaoh-publication date 12 December) contain Babackey and the Pharaoh adventures, and facts about Pharaohs in ancient Egypt, and coming soon ( the sculptor and the sacred river), we hope this is just the beginning, and we see more talents from the Arab countries, because culture diversity is one of the most beautiful things in this world.
