What to Avoid This Christmas for the Sake of Your Teeth

Your teeth are for life, not just for Christmas and if you don’t take proper care of them you can seriously damage them. Unfortunately teeth aren’t easily repaired naturally so if you ruin them, you have very little chance of ever having the healthy teeth you once knew. If you’re one of those people, you can still have healthy-looking teeth with dental implants or veneers etc.

So with this in mind, here are some things to do this Christmas to keep your knashers in tip top shape!

1)Avoid too much alcohol

Christmas can often bring about the urge to go out and get drunk as much as you can, but alcohol is like acid to your teeth. Think about it, you typically mix alcohol with a mixer like fruit juice or soda, which are both awful for your oral health. You’ll also have drinks like cider or wine, which are fermented and full of both natural AND added sugar as well as fruit acid. If you must drink, go for gin with slim line tonic water. It’s better for your teeth and your waistline!

2)Say no to the sweets

Okay, indulge a little – it is Christmas after all, but don’t let yourself go crazy on sugar. Your dentist probably has a field day every January when patients come in with cavities and tooth decay.

3)Floss!

All that food you’ll be eating is likely to get stuck in between your teeth, so have a quick floss after every meal, as this will reduce plaque and freshen your breath.

4)Brush

It’s kind of an obvious pointer but brushing always needs promoting. Brush every morning and before you go to bed, even if you’ve had a loud night out and just want to fall into bed. If you don’t brush after all of that alcohol your breath will stink in the morning and your teeth will suffer. For More Information Visit : http://theperfectsmile.co.uk
