Jane Austen was the second daughter and seventh child of Cassandra and George Austen – respected community members. She was born in Steventon, Hampshire, England on December 16, 1775. As her father worked as Oxford educated rector in a nearby Anglican Parish, Jane and her siblings were encouraged to read from their father’s widespread library. The entire family was close and they followed an environment of learning and creative thinking in their home.

Jane and her sister were sent to boarding school. Jane had a strong relationship with her elder sister. However, in boarding school both of them caught typhus. They dreamt of publishing their work together in future. Unfortunately, they after completing a short period of time in acquiring formal education returned home. After which they lived with their family.

Jane out of her likings and hobby started crafting her own novels in 1790s. She was always fascinated about stories and carried away by the thought of stories. Her first novel was Love and Friendship which was based on romantic fiction that carried series of love letters. Jane revealed her area of interests in her first book which had an impact on her later creations. Her next book was named The History of England which was a 34-paged parody that includes illustrations by her sister, Cassandra. Her novels and the short parodies, short stories are now known as Jane’s Juvenilia.

Jane’s childhood included spending time with her family and neighbors. She loved playing piano and attending church. Her weekends and nights often included cotillions through which she became a dancer. She used to read novels aloud to her family. Occasionally, she read her own creations to them. She continued writing and developing her skills. Jane’s creation named Lady Susan was another extraordinary story that narrated the story of manipulative woman. This manipulative woman used her sexuality, charm and intelligence to make others follow her or make them do things the way she liked. After this piece, Jane started writing her future work which were going to hit like a bomb. Elinor and Marianne, another series story which was eventually published as sense and sensibility. She started her creations First Impressions, later published a Pride and Prejudice and Susan which was published by her brother after Jane’s death as Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen.

Changing their place one after the other they got a balanced life after struggle at Jane’s brother’s cottage in Chawton. In her 30s, Jane started to publish her work anonymously which included Sense and Sensibility, Pride and Prejudice and Mansfield Park. At 41, Jane died of an illness Addison’s disease. However, her work got real recognition after her death. She was no more with the world when her work gained the title of Classics.
