Experts believe that stem cell therapy needs stringent regulations. There seems to be a rising need for rules regarding conditions treated using stem cell therapy.

While some parts of the human body are treated effectively using stem cell injections, like the knee, it is far too early to use for serious conditions like Parkinson's disease or cancer. The name given by researchers for this kind of use of stem cell therapy is known as “stem cell tourism.” It encourages the need of a person to avail treatment for a condition outside his or her home country.

Recent claims by various unlicensed organizations online, to heal almost any medical conditions through stem cells have gained attention. A recent study published in the Science Translational Medicine magazine titled, “Marketing of unproven stem cell based interventions: A call to action” deals with this very issue. The authors of the paper suggested that a coordinated approach at both national and international level is required to overcome this problem.

They recommend that the main focus must be on the engagement, harmonization and enforcement in the marketing methods of the non-proven stem cell treatments. Stem cell therapies dealing with many serious ailments like multiple sclerosis (MS) is being marketed online without any clinical evidence. This often leads to serious implications on the reputation of the firm as well as the treatment as a whole.

Stem cell therapy is a new and developing treatment. It has been established as a safe and effective way to treat various conditions like osteoarthritis, to relieve pain for joint, or shoulder-related injuries etc. The continuous availability of this treatment to be used as a cure for other ailments can not only harm its reputation, but also endanger the patient's life.

The researchers have been emphasizing on the fact that more research is needed before advertising about the clinical benefits of stem cell therapies. They are also aware of the fact that many patients may feel they are deliberately being put away from a life saving treatment. However, the patients need to understand that the treatment is always analyzed, because there is not enough evidence to suggest otherwise.

Stem cell therapies are non-invasive and provide a safe and painless treatment experience. However, it is new and needs additional research before being established as a mainstream treatment procedure. Widely accepted stem cell therapies such as the one used for the treatment of osteoarthritis, and other blood related conditions, have undergone rigorous clinical trials and tests. Hence, they were established as an effective treatment method afterwards.

Stem cell injections and its usage to treat various knee conditions have been proved to be effective. Hence, it is widely accepted and many reputed physicians also recommend the same to relieve their patients from insufferable pain. For reliable stem cell treatment, visit stemcelltherapyforpain.com
