David attended college at East Carolina University and pursued his Undergraduate Degree in Public Health Promotion. Quickly after graduation, he went on to pursue his master’s Degree in Exercise Science with a specialized focus in Adapted Physical Education. David decided to join the United States Army after he completed graduate school and served with dignity for more than four years. After he completed basic training, he went to the United States Army Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning, Georgia in his effort to become a Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Officer/Lieutenant. David Schillo was eventually stationed at Camp Stanley near the border of North Korea, where he stayed for two years. After he finished his time in the army, he was eager to get home to see his family, and promptly returned to Tennessee.

As a physical health and activity program designer, David loves working and volunteering with individuals who have developmental and physical disabilities. Throughout his time as a student, he has conducted extensive clinical research on exercise science topics, and did his thesis on the “Efficacy of Active Gaming on Physical Activity Levels Among Individuals with Disabilities.” David has also conducted several studies on the impact of various physical activity curriculums and the most successful strategies of program implementation. In his free time, David likes to read about science and space ventures, which has been a hobby of his since he was a small child. Currently, David is an 8th grade science teacher, who strives to help children get excited about many of the fundamental concepts of science. As a highly ambitious individual who jumps at the chance to learn something new, David plans to continue being a student. He is currently taking courses in American Sign Language and has recently joined local clubs and deaf organizations to practice using ASL in hopes of achieving fluency. David is also working to finish his second master’s degree at Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee.
