Luxury T-Shirt Line Combines Iconic Album Artwork, Digital Music, Fashion & Technology

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Astrella, daughter of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Donovan, is due to release her own stand-alone luxury tee collection next spring in response to her debut collaboration with fashion guru John Varvatos.
“The Musical T’s” is a revolutionary new clothing line that combines art, music, fashion and technology to produce an entirely unique clothing experience. Astrella’s designs feature reimagined artwork based on iconic album artwork. Launching in the spring 2014 and the line showcases her jazz and blues favorites, such as Miles Davis’s Blue Moods, Thelonious Monk’s The Unique Thelonious Monk, John Lee Hooker’s Country Blues, Billie Holiday’s All or Nothing at All and John Coltrane’s Lush Life, to be followed in April 2014 by Cyndi Lauper’s She’s So Unusual, Elton John’s The Diving Board, The Who’s Odds and Sods along with an impressive list of other globally respected artists and their recordings.
“I am very excited to announce the upcoming launch of my line of luxury tees,” said Astrella. “This clothing line represents my lifelong pursuit of fashion, music and artistic design. Having the honor to work alongside John Varvatos was a true highlight in my life. Now using all I have learned from that experience and adding my own unique touches, such as only using 100% organic fabrics (cottons and modal) and manufacturing all by hand in Hollywood CA, we have added something that truly separates my line from any other our technology, which allows us to securely offer the digital recordings associated with the album artwork directly to the consumer.”
After purchasing a garment, the consumer is free to stream or download the associated album tracks with no additional fee. For example, purchase Miles Davis’s Blue Moods luxury tee and instantly stream the music from the original album release. In addition, he or she receives online experience, which fully encompasses the album’s original release via content that would be sure to delight any music lover, such as videos, photos, memorabilia, interviews, press release and more.
“Music has always been a tremendous influence in my life,” said Astrella. “I have long been searching for a way to combine my passion for art and fashion design with my love of music.” “The Musical T’s represents the culmination of my lifelong endeavor to unite art and music, as each wearable design depicts an artistic interpretation of the album artwork from the most important musical works in modern history. They are a fun, visually enticing way for people to express their love of music, fashion and art — all in one.”
To help launch the line, SONS OF ANARCHY star TOMMY FLANAGAN joined NORWOOD FISHER (Fishbone) and ROB PATTERSON (guitar player for Filter and Korn) for a photo shoot with rock photographer, DEAN KARR in Palm Springs as the male models for the spring collection. This is the first in a series of celebrity ad campaigns which role out early 2014.
