Prescription glasses frames are often a subject of fascination to those who never wear them. We’re not sure why. Maybe it’s their ‘nerdy’ reputation or the air of intelligence that they supposedly give the wearer. Or perhaps it’s just down to a natural interest in the unfamiliar. Whatever it is, here are ten things that glasses wearers are fed up of hearing!

1. You’re so pretty/handsome without your glasses on!
Wow, thanks…I guess you’re saying I’m not so pretty/handsome when I wear them then…which is all the time. Awesome.
2. Wow, these are so strong! How can you possibly see in them?
Do you really need me to explain that?
3. Hey, how many fingers am I holding up?
Well, this is a fun game. And most glasses wearers can see enough to be able to count shapes…
4. I am so jealous that you get to wear glasses! You’re lucky!
Really? I love my glasses. They’re very cool. What I don’t love is that when I take them off, I can’t see anything. So I’m not sure that ‘lucky’ is quite the word you’re looking for.
5. Oh, I had no idea you wore glasses! You must be so smart!
Smarter than you, probably.
6. Those big frames are hiding your pretty eyes!
True. They’re also helping my pretty eyes to see. So…I’ll probably stick with them, thanks.
7. Are you just wearing glasses because they look good?
Thanks! They do look good, don’t they! But no, while I’m glad you like my style, I wear them so that I can read books, and drive, and do other important stuff.
8. My optometrist says I need glasses and I’m dreading it. Nerd alert!
Um…it’s really not so bad actually. They look cool and there are definitely worse things. But thanks for the insult.
9. Can I try them on?
No.
10. Is it hard to use eye make-up?
Of course not. Why would it be? I put on my eye make-up. Then I put on my glasses. Simple.
