Google is now looking to offer more intelligent search results to its users and not just information. All of us know that Google has immense value in the field of online search. As Google update its search engine to the Hummingbird algorithm its value is set to increase manifold because this update will enable it to understand what someone wants as they type in the keywords.

As Google update its search engine to the Hummingbird algorithm the focus is bound to shift from keywords to content. Keywords will remain important but not as scattered words and phrases. The real focus will be on understanding the meaning of a keyword phrase or a long tailed keyword. So, the content will play a more important role than ever before.

In the domain of content the hot word is now on context. Search is now based on location, platforms, devices and preferences than only on keywords. As Google update its search engine to the Hummingbird algorithm the focus will now shift to becoming more intelligent. Keyword optimization and using long tailed keywords will play an important role but Google will now look at those websites that have the right intent to offer to its visitors in the form of content.

Content now has to be deeper, richer and relevant. When someone uses keywords to search their thought process is not typed in exactly. As Google update its search engine to the Hummingbird algorithm it will now look to understand the thought process. When someone searches for flowers Google will look into its Knowledge Graph to see if it can generate some data on the behavior of the user and find out their past preferences. The search result will then focus on their location, the price they are willing to pay and their take on same day delivery (for instance) and so on. Thus websites that are better designed and have the most updated content will be looked into more by Google.

Writer authority has always been important for Google but it will now play a greater role. With Google+ changes in authorship guidelines Google will now be able to attribute specific content to specific authors. Authorship will also become more important as Google eliminates keyword information from its Analytics tool. For any author it’s now more important to have their profile created, uploaded and updated.

Of course with so many Google updates coming up every now and then it’s difficult for websites to manage these changes. The need for ethical SEO is on the rise and those SEO companies that have always played the game as per Google’s rules are now seeing an increase in their client base and revenues.
