FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) was established in the year 2000. The organization regulated the United States trucking industry, and its mission statement is to improve the safety of truck and commercial motor vehicle drivers (CMV) by enacting and enforcing safety rules and regulations. When it comes to FMCSA drug testing procedures and FMCSA drug program creation and implementation, the FMCSA has to adhere to the rules set out by the DOT (Department of Transportation), which apply to the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) as well. If you’ve used drugs and are considering trying to cheat your way through the FMCSA drug testing protocols and to beat the approved FMCSA drug testing program implemented in your place of employment, keep reading to see why you can’t do that, and why you shouldn’t try.

A lot of the time people have conflicting feelings towards authority and rules. For example, considering the recent legalization of Medical Marijuana use and Recreational Marijuana use in several US states, some people might feel that they’re entitled to use as long as state laws give them that right. Unfortunately, when it comes to safety-sensitive positions like that of a truck driver, all state laws are superseded by federal laws and by the ordinances of the DOT. Regardless, some people will still try to manipulate the results of the FMCSA drug testing procedures and to cheat their way through the approved FMCSA drug testing program implemented in their place of employment, no matter how slim or inexistent their chances of success may be.

Some people try to cheat the FMCSA drug testing procedure by substituting their urine for someone else’s. People think this idea will work and will get them through the FMCSA drug testing program because the rules state that all employees must be given reasonable privacy while urinating for the test—which means that no one is looking at the process while it’s happening. So, some people think of using straws and urine pouches to submit another person’s urine instead of their own. The main problem with this cheating technique is the fact that the temperature of the urine collected is also tested. If the temperature of the urine isn’t where it needs to be (if it’s too cold) you’ll have to go through another collection process, only this time you’ll have someone directly observing you while you’re donating testing material, which can’t be anything but awkward.

Other people try to disguise drug traces with other substances, which are called adulterants, in order to make it seem like they haven’t consumed any illegal substances. However, you need to realize that reliable and professional drug testing companies will always run a separate check for adulterants. Also, sometimes people have been known to give themselves away in trying to cheat, by professing that the test couldn’t have come out positive, since they made sure of that.
