From 13th to 22nd October 2017, Miss Progress International will be held in Puglia, Italy. The pageant has been organised by Associazione Culturale and #WeAreInPuglia is the beauty pageants, main sponsor.

The fifth edition of Miss Progress International is due to get underway in just a few days, the event has been organised by Associazione Culturale and is sponsored by #WeAreInPuglia. The Miss Progress International organisers decided that it would be great to set up a system where women from around the world could be given the role of Ambassadors of Progress in full compliance with their own culture, traditions and religion. Each Miss Progress International entrant is required to develop a community-based project which seeks to benefit the environment, cultural integration, health or human rights.

On the Miss Progress UK website they say, “After thorough and careful research the directors of Miss Progress International came to the realisation that the world of pageants could do with a ''light'' pageants that still featured some of the traditional characteristics but that at the same time could be enriched with social content.” A spokesperson for Miss Progress UK said, “Naomi will represent the UK in 2017, she has put together plans for a fantastic project which she has submitted, we believe it she will be one of the strongest propositions at this years event.”

Naomi Train, 24, from Barton-Upon-Humber is proud to have been chosen to represent the U.K, the 24-year-old beauty queen is currently studying a BSc in Sports and Exercise, she works part-time as a sports specialist in a local primary school. Naomi described the competition by saying, each country gets assigned a topic one month before the finals and it is the job of Miss Progress UK to present and promote the project which will benefit the community. Naomi felt it was really important to get her community on board and behind her.

Naomi said she was looking forward to flying to Italy and getting involved in the different tasks, whilst remaining a proud ambassador for the United Kingdom at all times. "It is all about the community. Contestants are not judged on how they look. They are judged on the project," she said.

On the Miss Progress International blog the pageant organisers say, “Among the contestants, who will bring their projects dedicated to the environment, health, human rights and cultural integration, there are representatives of all five continents, and each of them will describe their experience among the monuments, the olive trees and the sea of the Heel of Italy with her personal video postcard.” The winner of Miss Progress International will receive £10,000 for her chosen community project.
