Alison M. Lowe – College With a Purpose

Many young people today are involved in community service. They see the world with all its difficulties and hope that in some small way, they can help make it a better place to live.

 
Many young people today are involved in community service. They see the world with all its difficulties and hope that in some small way, they can help make it a better place to live. An example of one of these persons is Alison M.C. Lowe. Born in Taiwan and raised in Vancouver, from an early age, Alison has felt it important to give back to the community as well as take.

Currently Alison is working on her Ph.D, in Clinical Psychology in California. Prior to this, Alison graduated from the University of British Columbia with First Class Honors. She also attended Trinity Western University where she was on the Dean’s Honor List and was a scholarship student.

Alison Lowe has been involved in many kinds of community service. When she was younger, she helped teach Sunday School, tutored immigrant students and helped with Summer Camp programs. In her teens, she was given more responsibility. She was the Youth Coordinator for an Asian Heritage Event through the Government of Canada. She also was a medical and dental assistant in Oregon, Mexico and Vietnam. In her early twenties, she organized a weight loss seminar sponsored by Vancouver Coastal Health. She also founded and co-led the Sharing Hands Community Kitchen for women in need,

A well-rounded and versatile young woman, in addition to study and community activities, she loves music and plays piano, guitar and drums.
