The teenage time is a very important time in one’s life. It is the most important time of preparation for adulthood or the next phase of a person’s life. Your future will be the result of how you lead your teenage life. All these make it important to make the most of your teenage phase, including studying well, learning life skills, and cultivating some qualities to stand you in good stead in the future.

The period of transition between childhood and adulthood is not an easy one. It is a time of great change and challenge. The period is vital that will determine how you’ll view and interact with the world as an adult. Parents can play a key role during this phase. They can provide their teenage kids with the resources, mentorship, and knowledge for them to make the right choices.

The teenage years are not the same for everyone, since the situations, personalities, and way of living life vary from individual to individual. These are the things that shape a person for the future. The majority of the human lifespan is spent as an adult, which means being a teen is an essential role in society as one has the power to potentially control the future to make sure the adult life is great. Most teenagers take their life for granted. This is the time you’ll look back at in your future and then you shouldn’t regret looking back at it. So make sure you use this time well.

Here are some qualities Muslim teenagers should cultivate or goals they should work towards achieving:
Be honest- Teenagers have this tendency to lie at the drop of a hat, mostly out of fear, to easily sail through a difficult situation, etc. You may develop a habit of lying with time. Too often, teenagers compulsively lie in a bid to create a false image of who they are. Just remember one thing, if you decide to be honest, you’ll be away from sins. This is what the Holy Quran says.

The Prophet Muhammed (pbuh) said: Truthfulness leads to righteousness, and righteousness leads to Paradise. So it’s time to be honest guys!

Be worthy of trust- Make yourself into something where your parents can rely on you, your friends can depend on you, or anyone else can trust you basically. If you aren’t trustworthy, in no way can you be able to interact with people. Being worthy of trust will help you make a prominent place for yourself in the society, which will lead you on the path to achieve success in life and to not be deceived.

Be grateful for everything you have- For teenagers, the grass is always greener on the other side. Teenagers always yearn for things other people have, not even bothering to look at the life they are leading, what their parents have done for them. Be grateful to your parents, for whatever they’ve done for you. It’s true you need space, but it shouldn’t be at the cost of being indifferent to your parents. Your parents don’t interfere in your life to cause trouble, it comes from a place of concern for you. They have seen life more than you, so seek their advice in everything you do. It is the best type of guidance you can receive.

Be patient- It won’t be wrong to say teenagers lack patience these days, they want things to get done ASAP. It is the wrong way to go about one’s life. You must exercise tolerance and patience in the face of difficult circumstances, which is the only way you’ll have no regrets and will attain great heights in your life.

The Holy Quran says: But none is granted it except those who are patient, and none is granted it except one having a great portion [of good].

Stay focused- According to Quran tutors, the benefits of staying focused cannot be overemphasized. Staying focused in your teenage life can take you a long way in your life. Pay full attention when performing a task, do not daydream during class. It’s true teenagers are more likely than others to face attention and concentration problems. Focus on prayer, which will help you to grant the same concentration to your other activities.
