Dan Huish is pleased to announce that the sale of Huish Detergents, Inc, has allowed him to spend more time focusing on his ranching operation in Pinedale, WY. As the owner of Wapika Ranch, Dan Huish is responsible for the raising of over one thousand head of fine, top-quality beef each year.
“Cattle ranching is certainly a departure from some of my previous business endeavors,” remarked Dan Huish, whose previous business successes have been in the detergent and sporting goods industries. “But I’m very happy to have this opportunity to do something different, get to know a new trade, and conduct business in an entirely different environment than what I’m used to.”

Dan Huish sold Huish Detergents, Inc, in 2007, after the company began bringing in revenues of over one billion dollars per year and encompassed over 2,300 employees in four states. The detergent company was purchased by a private capital buyer, and was involved in a merger with Unilever in 2008. Dan Huish saw the sale of Huish Detergents as both a wise business decision and an opportunity to take some more time for himself.

“I had been CEO of Huish Detergents since 1985, and while that position was extremely fulfilling, I also wanted to have the opportunity to spend time with my family, to travel, to relax and enjoy the life that I’ve been able to create,” said Dan Huish. “Of course, I can’t stay away from business for too long!”

While Dan Huish had owned Wapika Ranch prior to the sale of Huish Detergents, the sale acted as a catalyst for him to become more involved in daily operations. Dan Huish continues to spend more and more time on his Wyoming property and shaping the ranching operation into a successful business.

“It’s been an incredible learning experience,” said Dan Huish. “I wouldn’t have ever imagined myself as a rancher, but this venture has given me the opportunity to take on new challenges and use my business knowledge in new ways. I look forward to continuing to grow and maintain the business, and see what else the ranching industry has to offer.”
