The first ever Afghan player who was sold at the Indian Premier League auction 2017 was All-rounder Mohammad Nabi for Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs. 30 Lakh. In January 2018, 17 years old Mujeeb Ur Rahman was bought by the Kings XI Punjab in the IPL 2018 auction for INR 4 crores. He became the youngest cricketer to play in the Indian Premier League. He is the right arm off spinner, the leg-spinner, and the occasional googly bowler.

The 19-year old Zahir Khan in January 2018 was bought by the Rajasthan Royals in the 2018 IPL auction for INR 60 lakhs. He took 15 wickets in eight T20 matches.
