Players can even argue that rep items from Wyrmrest, Argent Crusade, Ebon Blade, etc are not even worth it since they are ilvl 200 and takes some heroic runs to get exalted with all of them for one or two ilvl 200 piece from each faction. In Mists of Pandara, tailoring can perform much better in this aspect.

Raid tiers
In Mists of Pandaria, players can make the same arguement about all the raid tiers - like once T9 hits T8.5/8.0 is out of date. Why not just wait for T10 and go for that? But in reality, players should be progressing. Yes leveling profession is expensive, but while leveling up and doing quests, players should have also obtained enough MOP gold.

Good in BC
Tailoring was good in BC because the crafted gear was kinda OP and players actually had to be a properly specced tailor to use it, which players used their Frozen Shadoweave set with their T6 gear. But in wrath, tailoring gear is all BoE. This means players can just buy it the pieces off the AH or have a tailor guild cut a deal with them, or if players can farm/outsource the mats. But if players have JC, they can make tons Wow Pandaria gold than making bags or 4 pieces of specialty cloth every 4 days. Tailoring is not horrible.
