Spot encastrable, also known as recessed lights, is a type of lighting fixture wherein the lamp is placed in a hollow opening in the ceiling. It can be used for task, accent and ambient lighting. The two main parts of a recessed light are the trim and housing. The trim is the part that is visible in the ceiling. It is found in various types and designs for decorative purpose. Recessed light differs from sconce through the direction of the light, as recessed light produces down light while sconce has upward light.

There are various types of trim used in spot encastrable. Down light is for general illumination, while directional is for task lighting. Eye-ball type trim is under directional lighting. Wall washer is also used for directional lighting. This one has trims that cover half the lighted area. There is a specific type of trim used for recessed lights in a shower, it is called shower light for wet areas. Other types include pendant, pinhole and sloped ceiling.

The housing is where the entire light and parts are found. It varies depending on whether you are installing recessed lights for a newly built home or for a remodeled one. Installing spot encastrable also needs to consider whether you need IC rated or non-IC rated housing. That is, if the housing will come in contact with insulation. Trims can be 4 to 8 inches in diameter. If you are planning to update the look of your room using recessed lighting, make sure to hire licensed electrician who are skilled to do the job. Installing does not take merely placing it where you want. Proper planning is important because there is an appropriate spacing for these fixtures.

If you want to use spot encastrable to highlight an area of your room, it’s best to use eyeball lights which can be positioned in different areas. Recessed lights can be installed using different light bulbs. Incandescent bulbs, LEDs, CFLs and halogen are among these. Recessed lights are a nice option for homes because there are no bulky wires to dust off. You can consider LEDs or CFLs for energy efficiency. LEDs are cooler compared to other bulb types, longer lasting and has dimming capability.

Recessed lighting is ideal for kitchens, bathroom and hallway. It doesn’t just provide efficient lighting, but also adds that dramatic effect especially if you choose warm white color. You can use it to create focus on the working table or to highlight special areas of your kitchen such as cabinets and special collections. In the bathroom, spot encastrable creates that fresh, relaxing feel. It can be placed above the mirror, the shower or tub. But you can also use it for ambient lighting in the bathroom. Recessed lights are truly versatile, and with its sleek look, it can add an air of sophistication in a room. It can be used to match various room designs as well; you just have to choose a specific trim style of the spot encastrable to blend the room theme.
