Crystal Lake Fish Limited is located on the Volta Lake and just 2 hours’ drive away from the International Airport in Accra and the main port at Tema. The business was founded by Patricia Safo and following lengthy negotiations, permission to construct the farm was finalized in 2001. Crystal Lake has the objective of producing high quality tilapia for local consumption and export. The business is also strongly committed to the social and economic development of the local community and this is one of its guiding principles.

We are an award winning institute that has been recognized at the national level by the Government of Ghana for its contribution to the Aquaculture industry through Tilapia Production. We won the best national fingerlings supplier in Ghana for 2 years, 2006 and 2011.

Our company as a pioneer project has been used as a case study due to the uniqueness of the organization and the circumstances it has survived up till now. The company has been used as a case study by Fingerling Production, the India Institute of Management Bangalore and Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) to come up with a syllabus in their Agribusiness programme.

It was the first Aquaculture in Ghana to be established on the Volta Lake and Crystal Lake Limited has a female as the promoter. Crystal Lake as an institution has gone through a number of turbulence like all pioneer projects. One key challenge among others was the Technical assistance went wrong at the implementation stages of the company and almost resulted in the company folding up. The promoters of Crystal Lake believe in social impact and also safeguarding the environment against exploitation.
