What Caused Your Tire Blowout?

This article discusses issues relating to tire blowouts that cause injury and damage to vehicles and measures to avoid them.

It is not uncommon for motor vehicle drivers to focus on the engine capacity and the overall health of the engine, and to lose sight of the importance of their vehicle tires. Vehicle tires are one of the most important aspects of a vehicle that keep drivers and their passengers safe. However, when vehicle tires are created with a defect, they may endanger the life of the vehicle operator and his or her passengers.

There are a number of different types of tire defects that may cause a blowout or damage to the car if they explode. If a tire causes an accident the person behind the wheel is likely to get injured and or cause harm to others on the road. As a result, it is important to know what to do after a defective tire has caused an incident.

As with most products found on any shelf, tires have an expiration date for use. However, many tires are past their expiration date for use because they sit on shelves long after they should have been put into use. This basically means that even when purchased as new, these tires are old. The rubber on such tires may be weak resulting in a blowout at high speeds or if certain amounts of pressure through hard braking are involved. In other instances, the rubber may dry out and crack resulting in accidents. Tires may also be purchased or used when they have been overfilled or underfilled with air. This could result in an accident the moment they are used on the road. It is always important to obtain and hang onto purchase documentation and records in case they are needed for any potential claim that is needed later; this allows for a paper trail to the responsible party for the negligent care of the tires.

There are instances wherein the tread on the tires becomes separated from the entire tire resulting in deadly incidents. In most cases, this happens due to traveling at excessive speeds. But defective issues may also be due to tires being designed in a poor manner. In other situations, it may be that the tire was manufactured with defective materials that are of a lesser grade. In some cases, this happens accidentally while other times it happens in a bid to save money and time.

In other instances, the causes of tire blowout may be related to road concerns such as potholes which may cause damage and cuts in a tire. Such cuts in the tire could lead to rapid loss of air inside the tubes. Small punctures may lead to ‘slow leaks’ resulting in an overload of the tire causing it to give way to a blowout. As such, it is “important to check the pressure and tread before going at high speeds in order to avoid a potentially disastrous event from occurring.”

One expert shared the following advice in order to avoid tire issues; “prepare ahead of time to avoid potential issues. This means checking pressure, looking over the wheels to determine if there are concerns to be dealt with and bringing care if a flat occurs.”
Tire defects and concerns are complicated and require an expert witness to detail how such problems arise. Seek out the best accident attorney in Alaska for legal representation.
