This article discusses information pertaining to getting compensation for injury or property damage from flying debris.

In most cases car accidents involve other drivers and additional property damage as a result of the initial collision. However, it is not uncommon for that initial collision to cause flying debris which can harm others. It is important to know what options are available if you have been injured as a result of flying debris from a car accident.

In many accidents there is wreckage strewn across at least one lane where traffic will come into contact with it. However, it is not uncommon for some accidents to occur where the initial impact causes some of the debris to fly into the air. Debris may include items that are heavy or sharp and if any vehicle or person is close by to the accident point these objects can fly into other vehicles and cause property damage or bodily harm. Where large debris items slam into vehicles they can create injuries such as whiplash, concussions, broken bones and more serious injuries internally. At the point of impact the object can embed into the vehicle or remain inside the body of the new victim.

One article provided scenarios with regards to how flying debris may occur, “There are some accidents between one car and an object or two or more vehicles on the road that can create flying debris. If a person is either drunk or under the influence of drugs, he or she can crash into the railing, the side of the road or a bride or even slam into something large on the road and cause parts of the car to fly off and hit far away. This type of non-standard accident can generate new victims because of the impact and how the damage peels bits of the vehicle off which can fly into another vehicle that is nowhere near the point of the collision.” Flying debris not only just affects vehicles and persons who occupy the vehicles, they may also prove deadly to pedestrians walking along the road. It is possible for flying debris to have deadly impacts on a vehicle and costs as a result of property damage repairs and can result in physical injuries to persons in vehicles and pedestrians resulting in lacerations, cuts, bruises and body trauma along with broken bones.

“Where the driver responsible for the flying debris is the reason for the injury and property damage an individual who has suffered loss by way of property damage or physical injury may choose to sue him or her by way of a personal injury claim. However, it is of the utmost importance to have both evidence and witness testimony or video surveillance when the flying debris came from multiple cars or locations,” commented a Crowson Law Group Attorney. It is important for a victim to find the best attorney for personal injury claims or lawsuit to represent their interests. In addition, the attorney stated that an expert witness may need to examine the details and evaluate the evidence in order to explain such important matters to a jury or a judge.

Many victims of flying debris can claim certain damages to an insurance company and health insurance policy, however, it is important to have a lawyer represent you in settlement talks with the insurance company.
