In the fourth and the final test of India vs Australia, India’s Wicketkeeper Batsman Rishabh Pant surpassed Wicketkeeper MS Dhoni’s record of the highest score by an Indian wicket-keeper in an overseas Test.

MS Dhoni was dropped from India’s T20I squad against West Indies and Australia as selectors wanted to try another option for India’s wicket-keeper. They dropped Dhoni and picked Pant as India’s wicketkeeper.

Recently, Wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant broke Dhoni’s record which was made by him 12 years ago. In 2006 at Faisalabad, Mahi has scored 148 runs against Pakistan. Thereby, creating the record of the highest runs by an Indian wicket-keeper in an overseas Test.

Dhoni’s record was surpassed by Rishabh Pant who during the second Day of the fourth test in Australia had scored 145 before hitting a four to past Dhoni’s record. Pant was unbeaten at 159 off 189 balls before India’s innings was declared.

With Pant’s knock of 159, he now also holds the joint record of the highest score by an Asian wicketkeeper outside the sub-continent with Mushfiqur Rahim who also scored 159 against New Zealand in 2017.

Other than this, Pant also became India’s first wicketkeeper to score a century against Australia in Australia in tests.
