It was not a happy start of New Year 2019 for the 20-year old Rashid Khan. Afghan Leg-Spinner Rashid Khan lost his father on 30th December 2018. He announced the sad news of his father’s demise on Twitter and cricket fraternity gave condolence to him and his family.


Rashid Khan twitted, "Today I lost the most important person in my life, father-the everlasting. Now I know why you always asked me to be strong because you knew that today I would need the strength to bear your loss. Will be always in my _. I miss you. #plztalktomeOnce”


After father’s demise, Rashid Khan decided to play in Big Bash League for Adelaide Strikers against Sydney Thunder on 31st December. He took two wickets and played an important role in Adelaide Strikers win.


He played the match in honor of his late father. His obsession towards cricket reminded cricket fans of Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar who also went on to play cricket match next day when they lost their father.
