Looking for a place to play basketball without the unnecessary combative conduct of the younger players. Get down on the court of Staten Island Basketball League.

[31 Aug 18, New York]: Great news waits for the lovers and fans of basketball who want to enjoy a game without the pointless vindictive attitude of the recent recruits. The Staten Island Basketball League founded and chaired by the person of Craig Raucher, promises a full-court game with the same excitement, zeal, and ability. The league welcomes the basketball fans who want to enjoy a game of fully professional basketball without the pointless violent demeanor of the younger players nowadays.

The league started as Brooklyn Athletic League and was based on the locality of Brooklyn, New York. It was later changed to the current name of Staten Island Basketball League. For the past eighty-eight years, the league has been seen to be playing full court basketball, twice weekly.Instead of the rough and lifeless concrete court, the league boasts of an 80-year-old wooden floor and traditional wooden backboard, situated in an old-fashioned gym. But to go on the looks of the equipment would be making a mistake because the game played here has the same exhilaration, anticipation and the display of skills. The players are not exactly in the “young” age-bracket, but their style of playing and fooling the opponent completely defies that fact.

Founded by the great business magnet Craig Raucher, this league has grown by leaps and bounds over the years. Like an addict drawn to the drugs, people come and play the game for twice a week; and once they have played a game, they keep coming back. The main attraction of this game is the absence of the selfishness, combative attitude and the pointless exhibition of macho behavior; and the presence of players of great caliber and skill.

During the several games, the ongoing easy banter and camaraderie between the players sometimes blossom into long-term and fruitful friendship. You can find a person of every cast, creed, gender, profession, and ethnicity here; the only glue that works to bind them is their love and attraction towards a clean and skillfully competitive game of basketball.

When enquired about their favorite haunt, the basketball players unanimously agreed on the satisfying experience. “I am playing for the past eight years and have seen the standard of the game going higher and higher. Twice a week, a player must play at least three full-court games. That is really a great workout for us,” one patron cared to comment.
