People from all over the world come to the Cotswolds for a number of reasons each year. Locals come out just for day strolls through Minster Lovell, others come for a more permanent and lasting experience which includes exploring some of the festivals, horseback rides through the Cotswolds and guided tours through villages like the beautiful Swinbrook. Where you are here for a day, or longer, one of the best parts of a trip is enjoying a nice meal with amazing company. In this blog, we will look at some great places to check out eating whether your budget is small or whether you’ve got a bit more to spend:
If you’re a little tight on money but you still want a good meal, a pub is usually a good way to go, and the Cotswolds has no shortage of them, so you’re in luck! A really nice pub with some quality food is The Fleece. Located in Cirencester this pub/inn has been serving up delicious food since it’s purchase by the National Trust in 1977. This place is local, has a great selection of ales and wines, and well as locally sourced food! The Fleece is idea for a simple evening meal with great company and offers a range of affordable meals including specials on particular days. Whether you’re in the mood for a simple fish and chips or something a little more out there like a vegetable enchilada, The Fleece can make it happen!

If you have a bit more to spend, this next place is in the medium price range and the food is absolutely delicious. The Old Stocks Inn is located in the heart of the countryside in Stow on the Wold. This Inn serves up locally sourced produce that would satisfy even the pickiest of eaters. Their menu changes seasonally to reflect the best ingredients and they offer a lovely pizza terrace which is perfect for a cool glass of wine and one of their wood fire oven pizzas to start the meal off right!
While the Cotswolds has no shortage of places to eat, a good one to try out is Le Champignon Sauvage in Cheltenham. If the name didn’t suggest it, this restaurant is definitely more fine dining and upscale. Being one of only 21 restaurants in England to hold two Michelin stars, this restaurant is more for the sake of an experience and a lavish evening meal. If you happen to be in the mood for tartare, butter poached lobster, pigeon, or a rich dessert or vanilla cheesecake Le Champignon Sauvage is one of the best to indulge in.

Whether you are in the Cotswolds for a hour or a day, a good meal is never a bad choice. If you find yourself struggling to choose somewhere to eat, try your hand at one of the places above, they surely won’t disappoint!
