Noida, September 2, 2024:
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is thinking of making food business operators' licenses valid for five years instead of the current one. The FSSAI Central Advisory Panel is the source of this proposal. They feel that extending the license period will make doing business easier for food businesses and lessen their administrative burden.

Owners of food businesses must currently renew their FSSAI licenses on an annual basis, which can be an expensive and time-consuming procedure. By doing away with the requirement for frequent renewals, the proposed five-year license will free up businesses to concentrate on their core competencies.
Another recommendation from the FSSAI Central Advisory Panel is to streamline the license renewal procedure. They suggest establishing a self-declaration system for companies with excellent compliance histories. This would further streamline the renewal process by lowering the requirement for physical inspections and documentation.
After examining the proposal, the FSSAI is anticipated to render a decision in the upcoming months. The five-year license would greatly benefit India's food industry if it is approved.
