New schools program to develop leaders of tomorrow

Corporate Challenge specialises in outdoor, fun, interactive team building and experiential learning programs designed to promote team spirit and a winning, participative culture.

An exciting new program launched in Western Australia has paved the way for both school students and teachers to develop their leadership, communication and team building skills.

Schools Challenge has been introduced to WA schools early in 2016 with the model able to be rolled into schools nationwide through local facilitators.

Perth school Lake Joondalup Baptist College was the first to host a Schools Challenge program to develop leadership, teamwork and communication skills in their student council.

Lake Joondalup Baptist College teacher Anmar van der Westhuizen said Schools Challenge provided them with a quality and affordable delivery platform to develop these skills in their students.

“We were looking for something different yet accessible to students to promote leadership qualities,” said van der Westhuizen.

“Many companies only cater for business sectors and are quite often very expensive as well. Due to the large number of students we had to look at something affordable but at the same time of very good quality.”

The company behind the program, Corporate Challenge Events, has been delivering team building programs and events for the corporate world across Australia and New Zealand for 21 years.

Corporate Challenge Events Managing Director Dwain Richardson said they saw a need to develop a tailored program for schools after delivering a number of successful team building events in schools in recent years in both Australia and New Zealand.

“Our team has been working with education leaders to develop a program designed for young adults with flexibility to also be applied to teachers,” said Richardson.

WA Manager Robbie Figg, who has overseen the development and launch of Schools Challenge, said the tailored sessions are not only fun for all participants but come with clear learning outcomes for school and life.

“This program provides a focus on interpersonal and team communication which contributes to effective leadership, confidence and overall relationship skills.

“Another important aspect of Schools Challenge is that teachers don’t have to miss out on the fun. The program can be tailored to provide educators with a team building and leadership alternative for their training days.”said Figg
