A game show event perfect for team building

Corporate Challenge Events offers 38 different team building programs including charity-based events, all of which can be tailored for the needs and objectives of all clients.

Game show style events are ideal for team building during a company lunch or dinner, according to team building training specialist Michael Cromie of Corporate Challenge Events.

And one he strongly recommends is ‘Minute to Win it’!

“Imagine you’re on a television game show in a pressure-cooker atmosphere with only a minute to complete a fun challenge ahead of your competitors,” said Mr Cromie.

“That is ‘Minute to Win it’ without the TV cameras, unless you bring your own to record the fun, laughter and high spirits that this program will create.

“It is a really flexible team event that can feature any number of team building activities to slot seamlessly into a dinner or lunch function, or conference program.”

Mr Cromie added that while fun is the primary outcome, the team building activities in ‘Minute to Win it’ were great for working on team interaction, quick thinking and risk taking.

What ‘Minute to Win it’ involves’:

• All participants are split into teams
• ‘One minute’ activities are introduced and staged one-by-one
• Each team must nominate team members for each activity
• The overall objective is to earn as many fictional dollars by the end of the event
• Dollars are earnt by successfully completing the various challenges in under one minute

“Each challenge is fast-paced and presents what may seem like a simple task but having to complete it in one minute adds pressure that not everyone will be able to deal with,” said Mr Cromie.

“Whilst the activities look easy, you will be surprised how hard they become as the clock ticks down and the audience counts down.”

Three of the best activities in ‘Minute to Win it’:

1. Bite the Bickie

There are two groups of muscles on the human face. Contestants must use these muscles to transport three biscuits from their forehead into their mouth.

2. Yank Me

Participants must build a four-storey tower with each storey only separated by a single piece of cardboard. Teams must then yank each piece of cardboard out in a way so each cup falls on top of the next.

3. Ready Spaghetti

Working together as a team, participants must transfer soft drink cans from one table to another to build a three-can pyramid. However, the cans can only be transferred using an uncooked strand of pasta.

Feedback from organisations that have completed ‘Minute to Win it’:

Hayley Pearce, Good Price Pharmacy: “Our team participated in ‘Minute to Win it’ and the day was full of laughter. Everyone who participated only had the best things to say about the event and it was certainly a great bonding experience for the team.”

Gemma Hackett, The Service Company Ltd: "Our team absolutely loved the concept of the ‘Minute to Win it’ games and really got into it. We will definitely do this again as our team has not stopped talking about it since.”
