“Ever since we started this organization, we have always helped where we saw needed. Then we realized there was a pressing need to cater for our seniors’ dining needs. What we offer our elderly is healthy and nutritious three-course meals, prepared daily by our qualified chefs. We also cater for dietary requirements such as diabetic and vegetarian diets. Add to this, meals delivered to their doorsteps by volunteers from Monday to Friday. Their weekends are also sorted out with our remarkable frozen ready meals, all at unbeatable prices. We are passionate about what we do cause we know it’s for the greater good”, said Andrea Hall, the organization’s chair of the board.

In addition, the Meals and Wheels program in Perth helps seniors with bulk food shopping, advice on nutrition, how to handle and store foods as well as how to prepare, cook and freeze foods. The organization also has a dining facility located at Stock Road Senior Citizen’s Centre where the older community can enjoy an array of cuisines at affordable rates. This service is available every day between 11:30am-12:30pm except weekends and public holidays.

About the company

Established in 1984 as a Community Youth Support Scheme (CYSS), an Australian Government employment project, the organization initially grew slowly, with a focus on employment-related programs. By the late 1990’s it had expanded throughout the South West, with a couple of name changes (Mandurah Community Support Group, then Peel Training and Employment). Then in 2004 it became Community First. The organization specializes in helping the aged, people with a disability and people impacted by mental health.
