Conservation tillage
Conservation tillage reduces soil disturbance, which helps to minimise soil erosion. While overturning the upper layers of the soil, conservation tillage works by allowing a few sections of old plant stalks to break down as organic matter to feed new plants.

Zero tillage
Zero tillage approaches are similar to conservation soil tillage in that they do not overturn soil or require as much digging to plant new crops. When compared to conventional soil tillage, zero-till techniques using zero-till machinery or disc seed drills can reduce soil erosion by up to 95%.
