What is Pitra Dosh?
Pitra Dosh is one of the most misunderstood concepts in Vedic astrology, as many astrologers describe it as an ancestor's curse, and suggest remedies to appease and please the ancestors in order for them to relinquish their curse.
Pitra Dosh is not an expletive/curse of the ancestors, but the native's ancestors who have this defect in their horoscope are cursed. It means that one of such native's ancestors committed bad karmas, and the native must pay for them. As a result, remedies for this defect, such as Pitra Dosh nivaran puja, should not be performed with the intention of pleasing the ancestors, but rather with the intention of relieving the ancestors of their karmic debts, so that the native may also feel relieved.

Pitra Dosh can occur for any of the following reasons:
•Bad deeds (bad karma) committed by our ancestors in their previous lives
•Children's bad deeds (bad karma), whether done knowingly or unknowingly, embarrass the souls of their ancestors.
•Unfulfilled desires of our ancestors
•Abortions performed on purpose may result in Pitra Dosha.
•Sudden and unnatural death of any relative or ancestor at a young age.
•If someone fails to properly remember and honour their ancestors.

Pitra dosh effects:
•The Pitra Dosha can bring shame to the family if it manifests.
•Failure to pass exams is a result of the Pitra Dosha.
•The inability to conceive a child the inability to marry and a strained marriage.
•Relationship Issues.

This puja will be completed when all of the pandits/purohits have chanted 125,000 Saturn Veda mantras. Until the day of completion, the pandits/purohits chant the Saturn Veda mantra on a daily basis.
