Over the last 35 years, the Chinderah Tavern has seen a range of improvements and updates that have transformed this iconic NSW hotel into the ideal family destination. Since 2006, The Chindy has been a member of the renowned Taphouse Hotel Group and has since seen significant repairs and maintenance. Extensive renovations were added as well, including a new deck, kids play area, extra parking and disabled access. From 2013-14, upgrades were made to the kitchen area, and remodelling has also been done to the existing gaming area, including the addition of a new restroom facility. With these enhancements, The Chindy secures its place as a family favourite among locals and visitors.

At this well stocked Chinderah bar, you can get more than ten beers on tap or choose from our ever-growing selection of RTDs, wines, spirits, ales and ciders. You can rest assured there’s something for everyone to enjoy! Our fantastic, new deck overlooking the Tweed River offers the perfect setting to dine and drink and enjoy the cool breeze. For those with children, the deck also offers a view of the secure, covered children’s playground so you can keep an eye on the little ones while you relax and enjoy the surroundings.

Known for our family atmosphere, the Chinderah Tavern offers an exciting function space which is especially popular with family groups. You also don’t have to worry about missing that footy or cricket game, with large wide screen televisions and state-of-the-art TAB facilities available in our Sports Bar.

As a gesture of our community support, the Taphouse Group sponsors local sporting teams, events, charities, schools, and other groups. We also assist these groups by providing space at our venues for them to meet, hold workshops, dinners, bars and fundraising events.

While enjoying the awesome variety of tasty meals on offer in our bistro, you can take in the sights from our large, new deck overlooking the picturesque Tweed River. Who knows, you might even spot some dolphins swimming past. On the menu is a mouth watering selection of pub favourites, including seafood, healthy choices, vegetarian and gluten free options as well as our special kids’ meals. With daily chef’s specials and weekly meal deal specials, it’s always fresh, and always great value at Chinderah Tavern. Our kitchen opening hours are:

Lunch: 11.30 a.m. – 2.30 p.m. Mon-Sun (ESDT time)
Dinner: 5.30 p.m. – 8.30 p.m. Mon-Sun (ESDT time)

If you need a lift, there is an excellent bus service that can get you safely to and from the Chinderah Tavern. Our courtesy bus seats 10 and runs from Banora Point south to Cabarita Beach every Friday and Saturday night, and Sundays from 11 a.m. NSW time.
