Peter Bertling Has Received the Prestigious AV Rating by Martindale Hubble

This Press Release is written to inform the readers that Peter Bertling has received the Prestigious AV Rating by Martindale Hubble.

 
[b]Peter Bertling[/b] has been the founding partner of Bertling and Clausen, L.L.P since August 2000, where he serves as a trial and appellate attorney specializing in the representation of health care providers in medical malpractice, medical board, and medical staff matters.

Mr. Bertling has received the prestigious AV rating by Martindale Hubble, which is awarded to lawyers who have been recognized by their peers for having achieved the highest level of professional excellence and ethical standards.

Since 1987, he has been representing governmental agencies and private health care providers in civil rights actions including class actions for injunctive relief regarding the violation of a prisoner’s access to adequate medical and mental health treatment pursuant to 42 U.S.C. 1983.

His published appellate decisions include –

- McNall V. Summers (1994) 25 Cal.App.4th 1300: This decision clarifies when an injury is manifested for purposes of accruing the three-year statute of limitation set forth in Code of Civil Procedure 340.5.

- Cassandra P.v. Callahan (1993) 20 Cal. App.4th 1673: This decision upholds the trial court’s discretion to exclude a brain-injured child from appearing in court during the liability phase of a bifurcated medical malpractice trial.

Peter has a great passion for theatre and classical music and enjoys domestic and international travel with his wife, Deborah Bertling.

[b]Peter Bertling[/b] will be opening the Bertling Law Group in Santa Barbara on January 1, 2018 and will be representing veterans in actions based on military medical malpractice and neglect. He will also be representing victims of sexual assault, abuse and harassment. Mr. Bertling will be joined by Jemma Saunders who will focus on establishing an employment law practice. Cyndi Sierra will join the firm as a paralegal.

[b]Peter Bertling[/b] graduated from California Western School of Law in 1987 where he was elected Vice President of the Student Body and served as Director of the Moot Court Board. He won the National Trial Competition sponsored by the prestigious American College of Trial lawyers in 1987. Besides this, he was also the California State Champion of the ABA National Appellate Advocacy Competition in 1986.
