Centennial College's Recreation and Leisure Services program is spotlighted. It prepares students in two years for a range of roles such as advocates, counsellors or coaches.

Centennial College is the only college in Ontario whose Recreation and Leisure Services program includes an extensive supervised field placement. This feature is essential in preparing students for the field as it allows them to develop critical practical skills through the integration of classroom learning into real life situations. The offering also consists of recreation management courses that reflect the current recreational focus on wellness, culture and heritage.

Employment opportunities for graduates of Recreation and Leisure Services include outreach worker, referral worker, leader, teacher, group facilitator, advocate, counsellor or coach. These professionals may work in a wide range of settings as they strive to improve the quality of life for all citizens by developing healthy communities. Among these settings are long-term care settings, hospitals, municipal community recreation centres, school-aged childcare centres, rehabilitation centres and youth-focused organizations.

The offering at Centennial College is open to students who have completed an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent. With most courses including four major pieces of work, students typically complete two assignments, one mid-term and one final exam per course. Within these courses, themes include: programming, communication and group skills, community development, life span development, diversity and recreation management. Meanwhile, the field placement opportunities are offered in the second semester (two days a week), and the third and fourth semesters (three days a week).

With its combination of practical courses and real world experience, the Ontario College Diploma that results at the conclusion of this offering is just as respected as a recreation management degree.
